What is the Spinal Flow Technique?

The Spinal Flow Technique is a philosophy, a science, and an intuitive, hands-on approach that prompts our spine and nervous system to release stress and help heal itself.

There is an intelligence inside you that takes your next breath, that beats your heart, heals your cuts and bruises, and performs millions of functions we don’t even think about each day to thrive and survive. All controlled by your nervous system.

Through gentle targeted contact on 33 access points Spinal Flow Technique clears a direct pathway in the spine to remove nerve blockages that build up and store in the body. These blockages are a result of emotional, chemical and physical stressors that occur in our day to day life that we’ve been unable to process.

Your nervous system perceives the world around you and tells you how to react to it. Without a clear pathway from the brain to the body then there cannot be balance in your body and in your life.

When the brain and the body reconnect this allows for nerve signals to flow out and supply the organs, tissues and cells of the body to result in health and healing. It is essential that there is full movement and flexibility in each vertebrae to bring energy, life force and ease back into the body, making for profound and lasting results.

Understanding the role your nervous system plays in your health and wellbeing is empowering many people to heal in the most incredible ways.

How can I help you?
My healing expertise will empower you to access your true wellness potential.

In my healing practice, I offer a supportive, welcoming space inspired by the coastal calm of Lakes Entrance — a place where you can begin to soften the internal stress you may be carrying and experience the power and wisdom of your own nervous system, which is ultimately the master controller of your body. The nervous system is at the core of who we are.

A healthy nervous system and spine in my opinion equals a healthy life. It excites me to be able to assist people to find more freedom in their bodies and flow more in their lives.

As a Spinal Flow Practitioner I am trained to read the story your body is telling, to observe your spine, your range of movement and posture for any nerve blockages. When you have a nerve blockage this can lead to a particular symptom in the body and if it isn’t cleared more blockages appear and manifest additional symptoms in the future.

During an initial consultation I look at each of the 7 Gateways of the Spine with specific assessments to determine where the nerve supply is being interrupted, resulting in symptoms of spinal blockages.

Constant stress can keep our bodies stuck in a Sympathetic dominance. This is the part of our nervous system responsible for fight or flight response. In my practice I find that most people are being controlled by their Sympathetic nervous response, living by the hormones of stress, and are often functioning in a constant state of fight or flight. While it is important to have a fight or flight response it is even more important to have balance between both Sympathetic and Parasympathetic (rest and digest) responses. Our bodies are not designed to continuously live functioning off adrenaline, cortisol and such stress hormones and be in a constant state of alertness and stress.

With each and every Spinal Flow treatment I provide, change is made by peeling away the layers of stress, bringing your nervous system back toward the Parasympathetic state where more ease can be felt in the body.

Each contact made directly to the access points facilitates a connection with the dura matter, a membrane that protects the brain and spinal cord. This contact signals to your brain that it is safe to relax, feel and release. This creates space for energy to be able to flow up and down the spine in what we refer to in the Spinal Flow Technique as the spinal wave. Energy can then move up and down the spine giving back motion and flow, permitting your nerve supply the space it needs to feed through each vertebrae to signal to your body on a cellular level, activating the innate intelligence of the body to respond in the way it was designed to, to self regulate, regenerate and heal!

If you are struggling with your health please know there is a reason you feel the way you do. You are not alone and you are worthy of the answers. Healing is your birthright. A compromised nervous system does not need to be your story.

To reclaim your full potential you need to look at doing something different to see and feel something different. Spinal Flow Lakes Entrance is all about change. I can hold the space for you to make yourself a priority again.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is Spinal Flow different from chiropractic, massage or physiotherapy?

Spinal Flow is gentle, precise and focused on regulation — not force.
Rather than working on muscles or making structural adjustments, this technique works directly with the nervous system through light touch on specific spinal access points.
-
Chiropractic commonly involves spinal adjustments.
-
Massage focuses on muscles and soft tissue.
-
Physiotherapy centres around injury rehabilitation and strengthening.
Spinal Flow does not involve cracking, manipulation or forceful techniques. Instead, it supports the body to release stored stress and return to a more regulated state.
This is why many people notice improvements not only in pain, but also in sleep, mood, energy and overall resilience.

What happens during a session?

Your comfort and safety are always prioritised.
You remain fully clothed and usually lie face down on a comfortable treatment table in the studio. Using gentle, precise touch, specific spinal gateways are accessed to help your body recognise where stress has been stored.
Sessions typically last 20–30 minutes.
Each experience is unique. You may notice:
-
A deep meditative or restful state
-
Subtle movements or wave-like sensations
-
Warmth, tingling or muscle twitches
-
Emotional release such as tears, sighs or laughter
-
A profound sense of calm
There is no right or wrong response. Your body leads the process.
You’ll be gently guided to stay connected and aware during your session, as presence supports integration and healing.

Is Spinal Flow energetic healing?

Spinal Flow is grounded in anatomy, neuroscience and hands-on assessment — while also recognising that the body is more than just structure.
Energy healing is often described as working with a “vital energy” that flows through the body and needs balancing. Spinal Flow is not focused on balancing energy fields or performing hands-off techniques.
Instead, it works directly with the spine and nervous system through 33 specific access points — areas of dural attachment that communicate with the brain and spinal cord.
The focus is on locating and releasing spinal blockages so the Spinal Wave — the body’s natural healing movement — can flow more freely.
You could say it bridges both worlds.
There is a strong anatomical and musculoskeletal foundation, supported by postural and spinal assessment through the 7 Gateways of the spine. While these gateways may appear similar to the traditional chakra system, they are not the same. The 7 Gateways are an anatomical assessment tool developed through years of clinical observation and experience.
At the same time, Spinal Flow acknowledges that life force — or vital intelligence — moves through the spine and nervous system. The gentle contacts made during a session send messages through the spinal cord to the brain, encouraging regulation, connection and the body’s innate healing wisdom.
It is not hands-off energy work.
It is precise, intentional touch guided by philosophy, science and lived clinical experience — supporting the body to release what is stuck and restore natural flow.

What should I wear?

Comfort supports relaxation.
Please wear soft, non-restrictive clothing. Avoid denim or tight garments. All sessions are performed over clothing using gentle, respectful touch.
Do I need to talk about past emotions or trauma?
You never have to share more than you feel comfortable sharing.
There is no requirement to revisit or verbalise past experiences. Sometimes emotions release naturally during a session; other times they do not.
The body releases what it is ready to release — safely and in its own timing.

Is Spinal Flow safe?

Safety and gentleness are central to this work.
Spinal Flow Technique is suitable for:
-
Children
-
Elderly clients
-
Pregnancy
-
Those experiencing chronic conditions
A thorough assessment is completed before care begins to ensure you feel supported and at ease throughout the process.
There are no known contraindications to the technique.

How often will I need sessions?

There is no one-size-fits-all timeline for healing.
Some people notice changes quickly. Others — particularly with long-standing stress patterns or heightened fight-or-flight responses — benefit from more frequent sessions initially.
As regulation improves, session frequency naturally reduces.
After your initial consultation, a personalised care plan will be created to support your goals — whether that is short-term relief, deeper nervous system regulation, or ongoing wellbeing support.

What if I cannot lie face down?

Your comfort matters.
While face-down positioning is preferred, sessions can be adapted. Access points can be reached while lying on your side, on your back, or seated in a chair.
Care can be modified so that almost anyone can receive support comfortably.

Can I combine Spinal Flow with other therapies?

Spinal Flow integrates beautifully with other supportive modalities.
It can complement massage, physiotherapy, chiropractic care, acupuncture and counselling. In some cases — particularly in the early stages — it may be beneficial to allow your nervous system space to integrate one primary approach at a time.
This can be discussed together to determine what feels most supportive for you.

Are online sessions available?

Spinal Flow is a hands-on modality and is offered in person at Spinal Flow Lakes Entrance.
Can I bring my children to my appointment?
The studio is designed to be a calm, focused healing environment.
To support the best possible experience for you and other clients, it is recommended to arrange care for children during your session so you can fully relax and receive.

Are private health rebates available?

Spinal Flow Technique is governed by its own professional body and is not regulated by AHPRA.
For this reason, private health rebates do not apply.
